Therapy for people who perform well and still feel something's off...

Whether you're feeling anxious, disconected, navigating a major transition, or simply aware                             that life could feel richer, together                                   we'll help you move forward with                                 greater clarity and purpose.

Is this you?

• You're skilled at coping, but rarely feel at ease.

• Relationships are harder than they should be.

• You've built a life that looks right on paper, and something still doesn't add up.

• You're navigating change.

• You sense life could feel more meaningful.

You are in the right space. Life can be better than this, and together we will work to understand what is getting in the way and move you towards your goals.

Hi, I'm Austin

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent years as a  litigation lawyer and as global head of talent at a major investment bank — roles that gave me a close, unsentimental view of what pressure actually does to capable people.

Today I work with thoughtful adults who want more from life. Some arrive feeling anxious or stuck. Others are navigating change, relationship challenges or questions about meaning and purpose. Whatever brings you here, we'll work together to understand what's getting in the way and help you move toward the life you want.

My approach is warm, curious and collaborative. I'll offer honesty with kindness, and when it’s helpful I’ll gently challenge you too. I believe hope—and even humour—have an important place in therapy.

I live in Brooklyn with my husband, our two kids and a mildly anxious dog, whose interest in therapy is limited to eating her feelings.  I work with clients both in person, in mid-town Manhattan, and remotely.

Austin Dowling Psychotherapy. Inclusive therapy environment for LGBTQ+ in NYC and New York State.

Different people arrive for different reasons.

We all start therapy with unique personal challenges. The common thread amongst the clients I work with is a desire for life to feel better than it does today.
